ZAF622 is an Internet Road Show. Basically a video blog of people we meet around the country. As I write this (Feb 27th, 2009) ZAF622 is currently under development. It is taking longer than I’d like but we want to make sure it is done right.
ZAF622 is curious. Webster defines curious as marked by desire to investigate and learn. That is ZAF622.
ZAF622 is built, written, produced, published, and everything else you can think of by the team of Joyce & Daryle Dickens.
ZAF622 started a long time ago as an idea for a magazine. A magazine that would tell the stories of people. And this desire comes from the notion that we all have amazing stories to tell. Each and everyone one of us, not just actors, athletes, and celebrities. I began to explore the business of starting a magazine and quickly learned it was not a business I wanted to be in. Basically it was too complicated, too expensive, and too hard to successfully pull off. Option B was to do a website.
In 2005 I launched ZAF622.com with a focus on Q and A style interviews with artists. Having no web design experience or journalistic training I did the best I could with what I had. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of work. Based on feedback from artists I profiled it was worth it though. Connects were made, creativity was stimulated, and people just liked it. But it still never matched the vision in my head and many times I thought about pulling the plug. Some ideas and visions just will not let you pull the plug on them though. And ZAF622 continues to move forward.
